    Default MMO?

    History
As many of you know over the past 7-8 months, I have been developing an MMOCC known as rock demons. The aim was to let users socialise and play instruments with one another through an easy to use interface. But now towards the end of the development (coding wise) I am thinking all it really is is an MMOCC, its only unique feature is the instruments, (which although they are fun will lose their novelty). I am officially today letting RockDemons die, it can't compete with Habbo which already has such a large user base, BittyBay showed how hard that was and with many upcoming MMOCCs such as SokuCity, Urbanglobe and Zetolic I think it will be a tight space in the coming years.

    The future
RockDemons itself may be dieing but the MMO project lives on. I have noticed that there aren’t actually a great deal of MMORPGs that are Web based out there, in fact the only one I can think of is Runescape.

In my opinion there are 2 major problems with modern MMORPGs. The first is loading times. For example if you want to play Runescape you have to choose your world, choose your quality then wait for ages for it to load and log you in. Using vector graphics I think I could get an a MMO to under 5 seconds loading time, making it much more accessible and easier to pick up and play. The second problem all the major MMORPGs have in common is a severe lack of user generated content. Look at Habbo, what's the most enjoyable bit? Building your room. Imagine these sorts of ideas could be incorporated into an MMORPG, building your own areas to battle in with hundreds of other users at the same time, setting traps for your friends and creating areas just for your clan. It all sounds awful exciting doesn’t it?

By integrating the already coded MMOCC system with an MMORPG one combined with fast loading times I really think I can create one of the richest gaming experience on the web.

Where do I come in to all this?
What I really need is a theme for this MMORPG, I want to know what the public wants. Do you want more Medieval type fantasy or has that genre already been exhausted, how about a crime based game? Or is that a bit of a cliché too? Post any ideas you have below and what you think of other peoples ideas. I need a theme to get this thing started.

I would love something like runescape, obviously it won't competre as you stated, but something with the same idea of runescape.

Maybe make it more modern, the same genre of runescape but mordernise it.

Say guns instead of weapons such as whips, swords. Instead of pets, you could earn more men tot ravel with you in a war. You can create your own army base, just some ideas.

But along the same lines of runescape in terms of levels.

Modern warfare could work quite well actually because as people go up levels they would have more health and be more powerful so you could have all the really good people commanding loads of the rubbish people into a battle. I like the idea, I think it could work really well. Hmmmm.

    More dieas:

    • Different stages, say you earn cash for winning a war, you need people to gather you food, wood so you could buy more gathers (aka just the general public) if you ever seen age of empires, the way there setlers gather food, but you don't see them gather it.
    • You could implement of noepoets, people can set up there own shops to sell guns, people can visit the shops.
    • Religions, you could have this, BUT MAKE YOUR OWN RELIGIONS UP, otherwise it could turn nasty with racistism. Say Redwart as 1 religion, and Bluetick as another (there just random names I just thought of) and people could join a religion, and have religious wars which the game could be about, Clans is another option perhaps, you would earn money through selling coin, which users buy tanks, or guns, ships, air craft depending how modern you want it to be.
    • You could create allies, enamies, you could set goals for your users such as the first to take out this automated base gets X

I really like your ideas danny. Especially the one about religions although I wont be setting users goals, thats down to them in their own areas. Although I dont want it to turn into a multiplayer version of command and conquer with all of the tanks etc. I dont want to take it too far . Once the concept is finalised I will start planning it.

I also need it so you are rewarded for going up levels but you cant be ultimate and just kill everyone easy. Although their should be 'safe zones' I think people should be killable in most places not like in Runescape where there is just a set area, it keeps you on your toes.

I say an anime theme towards it
The over-exaggerated large melee weapons, but still remaining with the guns.
Not many "free-roaming" MMORPGs have done this.

It could work well but maybe expand on the ideas, anime is just a graphical style. Basically I think you mean Final Fantasy in real time where people can build areas etc

Nice ideas people. Keep them coming.

I'd just love the idea of walking around with a sword x10 the size of my character LOL.
