anyone else seen it?
saw it last night and i thought it was alright. some parts were funny, and considering it was a horror film, i thought that was kinda lame. but overall id probably give it 6/10 as some parts were predictable and annoying lol.

Certificate, you mean? It's a 15, unfortunately. Its concept has great potential, but it is just a watered-down teen movie that will only please, well, 15-year-olds with no knowledge of anything other than what is mainstream - which goes for all Hollywood horror films today with a rating under 18/Restricted. I wouldn't be surprised if the original cut was far more gratifying horror-wise, but the studio wanted it to be teen-friendly, so the real extreme segments were chopped out of the final cut. The Strangers is the latest in a recent spate of horror films gone wrong, another is this year's attrocious Prom Night - I hate how mainstream audiences think a film is original, when in fact they are just remakes of classics. I bet only a quarter of those who saw I Am Legend actually know that it is the third film of that story, preceded by The Omega Man and The Last Man On Earth, two films far greater than the horrendous Will Smith film.
Back on the subject of The Strangers, save yourself the ticket price and buy Michael Haneke's Funny Games, which has the same scenario of a home inviasion. You can probably get it for under the ticket price of The Strangers, and it is equipped with the much deserved 18 certificate.

the ending could have been better aswell, i was like "is that it?". but considering it was only a 15, i dunno how much further they could have gone.
I thought that it was OK, but it really wasn't as scary as everybody said it was..
I remember that the ending was really a disappointment and it wasn't really that good.. then again, it's been like 3 months since I've gone to see it in theatres so I kind of forget most parts of it.. which must mean something - it obviously wasn't that appealing to me or I would remember it.
DrewarThe most wasted of all days is one without laughter.
Didn't you go to Movie Premiere of that Movie? Is it as bad as what you say? Maybe because you are a director and have alot of movies you can see right through films, I could imagine. I was thinking of kinda having a night in with some friends and some popcorn or something and watch it.
I haven't seen this but I have read the whole story and it seems kinda like a bad ending. I would be annoyed if I payed £6 and got that ending, couldn't of seen where it would of gone though. Only way I'd watch it is if it was on Television (ITV, BBC, Sky Movies) Other then that I wont be too interested.
Go for the original Prom Night - it isn't the best film, but it's a cult classic and is good, and a lot better than the remake, but, maybe with some friends, you could possibly enjoy it or have a fun time watching it, i.e. laughing at it - it depends whether or not you're into the high-budget gloss of Hollywood.
Watching The Strangers, I predicted the outcome asit reminded me nonstop of Funny Games, which has the same ending.
It did well at the US box office and a sequel has just been announced to be written.
To be honest, That's right up my street :eusa_thin
Hopefully it will explain the ending of the first one.
Might just watch Prom Night just for the satisfaction. I'm kinda in too High School Movies, although I haven't really seen Horror ones. Maybe besides the Scream Movies which were kinda fun.

I believe the ending is literally "the end" for those in particular, just for the shock value. The sequel will probably just focus on an entirely new home. The story is based on various real-life home invasions over the years, and they usually ended the same way as the film, so it's trying to portray itself as true to the darker side of reality.
I am sure there is no harm in watching the original Prom Night, as much as I personally despise it; everything has to be given a chance despite how it looks. If teen movies are your thing, you'll probably like it.
