It would help if we knew what you were talking about instead of just saying "mode hatches"

He means when you open the mode hatch you can put items into it, I think.
Can you not put any pieces of pet food in the gap?

you can only put things on a mode hatch when it's on top of some sort of rug, so if you can removing the rug/petal/w.e may help.

Correct, and it doesn't work out for all.

I know that, but I can't remove it, because it needs to be there.

Right k, ill try to clear it all up. Basically, as we already know from previous posts, it only happens when the gate is on a rug which, from what you've said, it is. Now there's various different factors which affect what happens next, the rug, the type of gate, and where about it is on the rug. If you're using a 'patch' of any kind - sand, petal w/e - then it doesn't really matter where the gate is, it will override it and be trashable. SO if that happens, you'll know because when you load the room, you can put a piece of furni there. If that happens, and you can put something there, put a cabbage or w/e in then wait for another while, load the room again and see if THAT's been overrided. If that has happened, then place another cabbage in, but with a different rotation and that WILL stop the override. If the gate doesn't allow things in it from the start, then chances are it won't ever, but check it a couple times just to be sure. Hope this helps.
