The guitar looks different and the drum set comes eith cymbals so you can differ between a tom and a hihat for yellow and a floor tom or a crash cymbal for green.

I thought that was just the ION one that had cymbals. The new ones look the same but i think they're quieter

Just a few alterations to the instruments already in place. Nothing major, the cymbals are only there for "experienced" drummers tbh, I mean, you still have all four pads.

They have more realistic ones coming out with Rock Band 2. Although, when RB3 comes out there isn't going to be much to improve on, unless they wan't to be annoying and add splashes, chinas, double bass etc.
