    Default HDD Failure?

Basically, I took all the bits of my PC out of the case to clean indervidually and I think the HDD must have taken a knock or two and failed because now they're all back in there and my screen, CD Drives, mouse, keyboard, webcam, USB Hub and iPod Charger aren't recognised because the lights on my keyboard/mouse/hub/chargers don't come on and my screen stays on that annoying amber light. Which means no signal input. :S
The only thing is I can actually hear the fans inside my HDDs?

I've tried putting the Windows disk in the CD Drive but I still don't get anything coming out of the computer. Which is annoying because I want to run Ubuntu in the end but I can't because I can't even install XP to get a base for Ubuntu to go on.

I think it's not the motherboard because the lights are green on it.

    Help me.

Well it's obviously not the HDD if it's the only thing that's running is it?

Is everything in properly? If nothing is working then the only thing it could be is the mobo. It doesn't sound like a HDD problem.

All the HDD's got is power, I'm not sure but don't they just consume energy but not actually do anything else? When they've failed I mean. I'll double check if everythings in though, thanks.

Try the HDD in another computer, if everything else isnt working then no doubt something's been done to the mobo, it could be damaged. Does your heatsink fan start spinning?

I rekon the HDD is fine. I think it's the motherboard that's taken the beating. I'd suggest just using a duster or something next time. Not a vacum cleaner. Maybe something has come off the board causing the problem.

Is the cpu fan working fine? Sounds like the USB ports have been damaged too. Maybe take it into a computer repair store to get them to have a good look at it?

Did anti static have anything to do with it?

And have you reconnected everything properly.

And perhaps your power supply is busted.
