Black and white image

How do I transform a colour image to black and white either using Photoshop 7(lol yes), Macromedia MX or paint.

Or another way in photoshop is In teh menu bar go to image then image mode (or something) then click on Greyscale

If I remember in paint you save it as a certain image type and it converts it.

In MS Paint, save the file as Monochrome BMP and it will turn it into black and white. In FW, click the filters "+" button, then Adjust Colour, then Hue/Saturation and move the saturation bar left.
