Our Usertitles

First of all please note that I am not a cumputer genius so this might sound like a dumb question to most/all of you!

I'm just wondering why VIP's don't have the ability to add things like colour and bold and italics etc to our usertitles.

It would cut the requests for VIP features by a lot and would also make it more satisfying for us because we wouldn't have to wait at all.

Or even VIP+ could do with another feature like this?

The reason you can't add HTML by yourself is because there are certain commands that will do nasty things. That's as far as my technical knowledge goes I'm afraid Off the top of my head, embedding massive images, direct links to porn sites, redirects. I'm not a HTML expert so I don't know the really nasty ones

I think what Slowpoke has said is right that only people with access to the admincp can change the usertitle for people. But if it was possible for VIPs to do it themselves, it would probably be abused so at least when you request they can check what you want and make sure it isn't breaking the rules.

Basically all said there, It can only be done via admin CP and I will agree it would be nice to add it yourself but then you might end up with certain members / staff pretending they are staff or work in other departments by just editing it as if it was always there, (I know VIP staff can do it anyway but still )
+ Would be nice for VIP+ but again, They could impersonate people or include links to porn sites etc. Having a VIP editor just ensures nobody breaks the rules in their usertitles

Maybe allow it for users that have been a member of the forum for longer than a year, use the forum regulary so maybe a decent number of posts and make sure they don't have a rep for causing trouble. With the selection cut down a lot already the usertitles could still be higly moderated but it is less likely for any members to do anything bad. Or maybe just let staff members do it! And yah I am only saying that because I am staff, but all staff are trusted arn't they? Staff obviously would be fired from all of there jobs if they abused this privallege. Also you could add a rule such as "Anyone with a 'bad' usertitle will be permanently banned from the forum" Now nobody should misbehave with all of these!

Neither, they only have access to the modcp.

It has to be done by the admin cp. And it would be risky.
