There is pretty much loads of places taking on christmas temps at the moment, if you hand in a CV and a letter and explain that because your at college 5 days a week (I know you said you had wednesday off but don't tell them that) that you can only work at the weekends but you can work during the week if needed when the holiday starts.

It makes it seem like you'll compromise and might get you a decent temp job over christmas to get some money and even if they don't offer you a perm position it's experience for when you apply for another

I used to work in retail at Morrisons, they were pretty flexible with working hours. They normally ask, in the interview, when you can work and what shifts you would like.

I know nearly all big retail stores have customer services where you can ask if they're any jobs going, they will also probably give you an application form.

Yeh, i'm also looking for a decent job aswell. I think the way to go about it is get your CV and hand it in at as many places as possible, fill otu as many forms and try to make yourself look good. That way yoru more likely to be picked for an interview.
