Drive:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function

I get this error whenever I insert a blank DVD into either of my DVD drives and I need to get some files on to disc soon.

One of the drives is HL-DT-ST DVDR/RW GSA-H2OL (IDE connection)
the other is a Lite-on DVD-RW SOHW-1633S (USB connection)

I have tried all the solutions on the Ms help site to no avail and google was no more useful, any ideas?

What OS?

Depending on what you used to burn the DVD, it may be an outdated version that used outdated functions and therefore, the error.
