    Default Severe Virus - Problem

Hi, don't know what I did to get it yesterday but I'm constantly getting popups alerting me to a 'TrojanDownloader'
I have Windows Defender but I was prompted to download other Antivirus programs.
I'm getting a flashing yellow triangle with a ! inside on my 'Notification Area' (bottom right).
I missed what it said but I'll say next time it pops up.

    Please help.
I try using 'Quarantine' on the virus with Wondows Defender, Remove and it just won't go.

Download Ad Aware SE Personal (free). It's a well known program and you can scan your computer for viruses. It never has any problems removing them. If windows defender can find it, ad-aware will find it and remove it.
    Kind Regards,

    Guy

Sounds like a Rootkit to me.
You'll need to check your registry and delete anything that looks suspicious (regedit)
Open Task Manager, and end any processes looking dodgy (CTRL - ALT - DELETE)
And have a Full Computer Scan

Do not do this unless you know exactly what you are doing, seriously.

While that's correct, it's absoultely necessary.

Look in LOCAL_USERS and then SOFTWARE
and be wary of things you are 100% sure is dodgy, like 'Windows Protect AV', or products that don't exist, they're sometimes the Rootkit, masking itself.

That is not needed... It's simply a trojan downloader. He's downloaded a virus and it's running the background somewhere, giving him popups and downloading trojans.
    Kind Regards,

If it's a rootkit and you want to save yourself a headache, use rootkitrevealer.

Make sure you backup your reg btw.

You can't simply say 'its the best ever' to a program, as it's probably nowhere near the best.

    Try installing Spyware Doctor.
