I have heard alot are getting macs this xmas so i thought i would make this to help you out. Any windows programs that you think you will miss 99% of there time there is a mac alternative.

Word prosessing/Office
Windows program: Office 07/03
Mac alternatives: Iwork 08, Office for mac 08/04

Msn Messanger
Windows version: WLM 9/8.5
Mac alternatives: Mercuary messenger (webcam supported), msn for mac, Adium

FTP
Windows Program: Filezilla, core FTP
Mac alternatives: Filezilla, transmit, CyberDuck

Email
Windows program: Outlook express
Mac alternative: Entorage, Thunderbird, Apple mail

Bittorrent
Windows program: Bit torrent, U torrent
Mac alternatives: Bittorrent for mac, xtorrent, Transmission

Temprature
Windows Program: Speedfan
Mac alternative: iStat, smcFanControl

Movie making
Windows program: Sony vagas, movie maker
Mac alternatives: imovie, Final cut express, final cut pro (Dedi GFX needed)

Sound editing
Windows program: Adobe audition, audacity
Mac alternative: audacity for mac, Protools, GarageBand

Web development
Windows program: Dreamweaver
Mac alternatives: iweb,Dreamweaver for mac,Coda, TextWrangler + CSSEdit

Image editing
Windows program: Photoshop, Paint
Mac Alternatives: Photoshop for mac, GIMP

Desktop screenshotting
Windows porgram: vvcap,tehupload destop app
Mac alternative: Grab up, iSnapzPro, Skitch

Web browsing
Windows program: IE7,firefox
Mac alternative: Safari, Firefox, Opera

Disc burning
Windows program: Windows dvd burner, Nero
Mac alternative: Toast

Antivirus
Windows Program: Avast, NOD32
Mac alternative: Your on a mac you dont need that rubbish.

Running other OS's On a Mac
Windows program: VMWare, Virtualbox
Mac Alternative: VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox, Boot Camp (Built into Leopard), Parallels.

Knew there was a popular BT cleint i missed. Dont use it you see i use bittorrent but soon utorrent for mac should be out

Recently on HXF there has been a burst in users running more than one OS.


Maybe you could add :-
VMWare Fusion
VirtualBox
Boot Camp
Parallels.

These would maybe be under "Running more OS' on a Mac"
