Default Movie Number ''3'' Ruins Concept Of Films?

What do you think, people creating more then two movies on the same thing, a bad thing?

Excluding Harry potter, American Pie & Scary movie as those following films make sence like a tv series.

Do you think its abit OTT when they create more then 2 films on the same film idea? take High school musical for instance, from their second film, it seems their just there to make money, the first two films was a good hit, wasn't a great film as I hated it but it was worth watching if you was under 12.

i understand what you mean. Like final destanation films are basically the same film. But high skool musical 3 is way better than 1 & 2 in my mind and the best. And people will say "omg, why have they put it in the cinema when 1 & 2 was on disney channel", Its better in cinema.
Like now there making madagasca(sp?) 2. That will probs be like 1 so i cans ee your point.

No it's not... HSM is all about the SAME school SINGING, CHEERLEADING or playing BASKETBALL. Nothing else. Final Destination is a series of classic stories. A plain and a rollercoaster are not the same. At least they can think of different deaths and ways to start it off.

Absolutely, most sequels that hit the third or more are just their to sell, they dont care about the story or script of the movie as much as highly advertising it in hope that it will sell as good as it's first 2 parts. American Pie was great, simply because they have moved on, High School, college (Moving out together) and finally married. I admit, Band Camp and Beta House were unnecessary and another money grabber. But any great movie needs to stop itself before it finally kills itself off. High School Musical as you said is a prime example of this, same cast doing the same old **** over and over until it finally kills itself off.

Varies really. But usually they stop at 2 because it does get boring. With Airplane!, they only made 2 films - Airplane! and Airplane ll : The Sequel. Airplane is one of the top ten funniest movies/films ever made!

I can only think of one exception, which is Austin Powers. Goldmember was hilarious but that went onto a different track and didn't follow the same old story line.

Of course it's not a bad thing. If no one made more than two films on the same thing then trilogies wouldn't exist. You seem to be basing this on High School Musical alone while forgetting films like Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, The Godfather: Part III, Star Wars Episode I, II, III and VI, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Back to the Future III and many more.

I think Shrek 3 is a good example of this - Shrek 1 and 2 were good, but 3 was awful.

I think Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars trilogy had good third films in the series. Nevermind, Neversoft just named all of the good films

Am I the only one that has noticed that they are reasonably serious films? Back to the Future seems to of taken years to be written and alot of time seems to of gone into it. HSM for example is just created to excite the younger population, which is good, but you shouldn't take them seriously and they won't hire amazing actors most of the time e.g. the brother and sister combo, they're incredibly bad actors but children won't notice this. Zac Efron is a bad actor, and after talking to aload of my friends the people that actually like him are the ones that only watch him for sexual reasons

I'm trying to think of a trilogy series that didn't take a long time to make and works in the same way as High School Musical, and was actually good for the older generations in terms of acting. But I can't think of any

Where the same story carries on throughout the films are generally better, star wars for example. Obvs exceptions - Harry P.
i also thought xmen three was poor.
