Default layout size

What size layout do you people normally use.

I always seem to change my mind about widths i use.

Sometimes i do 800px height and 1000px length

but i always change

800px - 900px width

Height doesn't really matter and can be changed as you go along if it's going to be expandable

I do about 700px and 900px.

It's argueable, what really matters is the width because horizontally scrolling is a pain where as verticle isn't. Most people use 1024 by 768 (40%), only 5% of viewers use 800 by 600, so 800 by 900 is about right, you don't make it the full 1024 because of the scroll bar, so I would go with iUnknown's recommendation.

Depends on the "format" of the site. Sometimes I prefer a thin-running design @ around 750px width, however for a normal format site with alot of content 850, 900 or 950.

End of the day, its a matter of preference.

I use !000 x 680 dont ask i just agree with this size

900-980 is a good size, don't go over 980 because then with the scroll bar and stuff people on 1024x700 screens wont be able to view it properly.

I change all the time too. I tend to like wider then longer layouts tbh
