Shadings pretty disappointing considering it's mostly gradients.. The lineart is quite nice however, a litte misshapen, but still, not bad at all

By the way, when asked for WIPs you should probably provide some a little more elaborate.. All you've given is the lineart and the lineart with a few bits rubbed out, it still could have easily been a tracejob.

Im not sure what your asking for ... elaborate WIPS? I dont understand. They are WIPS. I'm lucky to even have these, i never keep wips. I have more if youd like to see them.

Can you please tell me what is disappointing. Yeah its gradients, how else could I have done them? I shaped and angled them in a way to define the curves and edges of the car. Would you mean like "Shines" that you would see on a car?

Sorry, I should have explained myself better, I was a bit short for time when I wrote my last comment.. I'll explain myself now, and give some further constructive criticism.

Gradient shading CAN work at times, but not on the side of a car, or on the seats of a car, with the light source that you have used. It just simply does not look good. The only place on this piece that gradient shading has succeeded in looking decent is on the front bumper. Also, you need to be consistent - you did the lineart as pixel art, gradient shaded much of the car, then switched back to pixel art for some of the car, and the wheels. Even the lights contain both gradients and pixel by pixel work.

Here are some cars you could take a look at to help you out a bit.. I'm assuming you're not going for a pixel by pixel approach, as much of the car is not done in that fashion, so these are just regular digital art:

    http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/2...ebydonbja5.jpg

As for the WIPs, it's much easier to illustrate what I mean with another picture, showing the WIPs of a piece called Colossal Katamari made by a friend:

    http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/790...atamaribi9.gif

Looking at it again, it's also a little out of proportion in some places, nothing I can do to help there, you just need to study the shape of the car a bit. And you need to get rid of the black lines, and anti-alias all the outlines. The light source is inconsistent, it seems to be coming from the top left for the most part, but the headlights, stripes, front bumper, rear vision mirrors, interior, and wheels do not follow that source. Shadows must be considered for much of this piece. Just because the source is from the top left doesn't mean you shade the rims as if they have a strong source from the top left, as the source is being blocked by the car.

Those seem to be the most important necessary changes.

If you need any of this explained any more, do not hesitate to ask. And once they are fixed, I'll give the rest of my criticism.

You're a good artist but I don't understand why you care so much whether or not it gets into the gallery of a website which is aimed at 13-15 year olds who use a chat game along with a bunch of other worse/better art pieces.

You're not really that desperate for recognition are you?

Also I don't understand why you go to this much effort with just a simple pixel art piece. On most pixel art forums you would be nailed for using thousands of colours. It just doesn't look that great in the medium you use.

Thats very good criticism, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. But i will most likely not be "fixing" this, in fact, ill take the tips you have told me and apply them if I decide to make another alt. I can't imagine what you would say about my old viper roadster . In fact, looking at this old alt has reminded me that I forgot the viper emblem on the front :eusa_wall. Oh well.

Who said I care about getting it into a gallery? I just thought it would be a good idea to share it.

Simple pixel art piece? In my opinion, looking at the other art pieces here (which seem to be primarily based on photoshopped or 2-hour jobs) this seems relatively complicated.

So you are saying I should "simplify" my alts, using less colours, and less shades. Doesn't make much sense to me.

The pixel art medium is not really supposed to be used in a way where it just becomes photoshop'd but taking about 10x longer.
