Default Grr installing fonts on Vista?

I'm trying to install the Volter (Goldfish) font. I know the various ways to download a font.

However, when I try to drag the files to the Fonts folder, it says it can't be done.

When I try to extract to the Fonts folder from WinZip, the folder doesn't appear on the list.

When I try going into the Fonts folder, right-cllicking and selecting "Install New Font" (or similar), it can't find the font in the folder I specify.

I've also tried downloading the font from various sources but it always leads to the same problem. There's absolutely no way around it as far as I can see. Any ideas? :S

Hit alt and the File, Edit, View comes up.

Go to install a font and browse for it.

That's exactly the same as right-clicking and choosing install a font. Doesn't work.

Don't extract to the fonts folder. Extract it and copy and paste the font file? Cos usually there's a readme or something.

Omg I thought it was going to work then! THere's just the Volter file and Volter Bold files but when I extracted to my Documents, it changed the files' icons to the blue "T". But when I pasted into the Fonts folder, it gave a few pop-ups saying "This file is in the wrong format" or something (some of them had Japanese characters).

I then tried just copying the first Volter file alone, and it seemed to work but doesn't show up in the list in the Fonts folder :S.

Edit: went back to the old way of clicking Add New Fonts and used the files from where I'd just saved them and it's worked . +repzzzoorrr
