    Default New rig

Spent the weekend putting my rig together. Took quite a few pictures so I thought it might be of interest to some of you .

I'll start with the specs and I'll add a little caption with each image.

    CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
HSF - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO
PSU - OCZ 700W GameXStream SLI Ready PSU
    Motherboard - Asus P5Q PRO iP45
    HDD - 500GB Maxtor - 32MB - SATA2 - 7200RPM
    ODD - Samsung 22x SH-S223F DVD-RW SATA
GPU - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB
    RAM - OCZ 4GB
Case - Cooler Master CM-690 Dominator

Sorry for the quality of the pictures, they were taken on the phone and I'm generally crap at taking pictures.

    PSU mounted, the build starts.

PSU mounted, the build starts 2.

PSU mounted, the build starts 3.

The rest of the parts, waiting to go onto the motherboard.

    Motherboard mounted.

GPU, CPU, HSF and RAM inserted.

Some shots of GPU and HSF.

Everything connected up, now for abit of cable management and to remount some fans.

A cable management dilemma, now I see the advantage of buying a modular PSU.

    Finished rear view.

    Project complete.

It booted and POST fine, installed Vista Ultimate x64 no problems at all. I've been at work tonight so I've had no time to tinker. But tomorrow night I'm gonna have alot of fun !

ATI make kick ass cards now. 4870 512MB is equivelant to the old GTX260 but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Sweet rig man, although your case top panel doesn't seem to be secured properly. It might be that you need to give the top of the front peice a solid tap to knock it in to place (I have the same case, happens quite alot)

Nice rig. Good choice of parts. I may be building something very similar in a few weeks time for a friend. Out of interest, how much was it altogether, i cba adding it up .

@Scot, the card he chose is way better value for money than a nVidia equivalent.
