    Default why?

Hey, I'm in my second day of my trial and well, I'm having fun and thinking of upgrading early as I think you have access to an additional character etc aswell?

Why should I upgrade though? How actually will it benefit me at the moment? thanks!

Don't go getting Burning Crusade or Lich King just yet as it won't benfit you till 60 for Burning Crusade and 70 for Lich King. Get a char to 58/60 then go and get Burning Crusade, then after that hit 68/70 and then go and get Lich King therefor increasing your level cap and access to Northrend.

If you upgrade now it won't benefit you that much until your a higher level

Well, upgrading your account means you can join a guild, visit the AH, level past 20, and loads more. I'd suggest playing until you're around level 17+ so that you get the most of your 10 day trial and then if you enjoy it upgrade your account.

When it comes to the expansions, like Poon said, dont get The Burning Crusade until you're around 55 and The Lich King until around 65.
No more dreaming of the dead as the death itself was undone
No more crawling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so long
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so long
Dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world.

If u wish to upgrade to a full account, you get the benefits he said, BUT if you upgrade you still keep your trial days aswell, so you may aswell upgrade now if you wish to play the game for a long time

And also yeah i agree with the expansions.

Upgrading gets you the ability to:

    Have more than 10g
    Be lvl 20+
    Join or create a guild
Use extended chat: General, Trade, LocalDefence et cetera
Play as Draenei or Blood Elf (If you buy BC)
Trade and use the Auction House

It's worth it imo, especially if you have friends who play

Depends on your class and race really.

Blacksmithing is best suited to Warriors and Paladins and to a lesser extent, Shamans and Hunters.
Leatherworking is best suited to Rogues and Druids as well as Shamans and Hunters but again to a lesser extent.
Tailoring is best suited to Mages, Priests and Warlocks. Druids, Paladins, and Shaman on healing spec may do too.

    Racial Benefits:
    Tauren have +15 Herbalism
    Blood Elves have +10 Enchanting
    Gnomes have +15 Engineering
    Draenei have +5 Jewelcrafting

There are common combinations such as
Mining goes with Blacksmithing, Jewelcrafting and Engineering
Herbalism goes with Alchemy and Inscription
    Skinning goes with Leatherworking
Tailoring and Enchanting stand on their own

Remember, you must have BC to get Jewelcrafting as a profession.

    Hope that helps
