My second charger for a laptop has just busted, yet again loose connection. This time it was sparking like mad! It looks like the wire has melted... is there anyway I can keep it from doing this in future?

don't strectch them, dont bend them thats the best advice, What brand of laptop is it, if its a sony vaio NR11 (2007 series) a few had a faulty charger
But it seems you nuke through them
