    does anyone know how this is done?

    like alot of application websites have them. its like a screen shot, but not just flat on the page?

    Some fairly basic photoshop skills would wield these results, no?
    XHTML, CSS, AJAX, JS, php, MySQL.

    Agreed. I use Imandix Pro for DVD/Bluray cover/box shots. It just happens to have a "poster" setting which can accomplish these results.
