Rapper Dizzee Rascal was arrested following an incident with a baseball bat, police said.
The Mercury Prize winner, whose real name is Dylan Mills, was detained on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in Sevenoaks Way, Orpington, Kent, at around 3.30pm on Friday.
He was released on bail to return to a south London police station later this month.
A police spokesman said: "A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon.
"He has been bailed until later this month."
