New PC For X-mas.

My parents have bought me a custom build, with AMD Quad core, 4GB ram ect ect.

When I get it, any programs you suggest installing? (Windows XP)

Well if it's a gaming rig, install STEAM and get games .

Don't play any Steam games, Just want some stuff which is useful, I'll obviously be installing Zone Alarm, and trying to get a licensed version of AVG.

Office software e.g. Microsoft Office

Im just shocked about why you need a quad core and 4GB RAM if your not gonna play games

Naturally, Is there anything useful that I can add to what I use. And no it's not a gaming rig, I just wanted a fast PC, Because this one is useless.
