Default Blergh, i'm at a loss

Well, one of my parents touched the study pc last night and has somehow managed to kill it (>.>) Vista will not boot, it shows the boot screen, then it just restarts. I've tried recovery mode but startup repair says "Cannot fix automatically" and system recovery won't work. Running chkdsk to find errors now to see if that helps but i'm at a complete loss

    Any helps?
Edit: There are errors with the hdd but it's write-protected >.>

Edit 2: Got chkdsk c: /f to work

Put in another hard disk (they are cheap these days) and install Windows Vista onto that, hopefully you can see your files on the other hard disk and drag and drop them across.

    Hope this helps

It's not that simple, OEM, shuttle pc. >.>

Ok, so i've run startup repair from the vista install disc and it "fixed" it. But vista still won't boot "/ It just restarts after showing the boot screen for about 20 seconds

Erm, can you install another vista onto another partition then transfer the files accross partitions somehow and delete the broken one? Probably not but its worth a try

I had this with my laptop, booted Puppy Linux from CD, copied all files over onto my external

Then wiped and rebooted worked a charm.
