Maybe it's so people can't read posts then let them influence polls, for the same reason the poll results are hidden. Or they just want to use the forum for polls.

Erm miscommunication, should have been sorted out now
Poor ol Davey muddled the perms a tiny bit so Jin went to check and saw that perms didn't allow people in your usergroup to do it, so assumed thats how it was supposed to be.
It costs nothing to be a good friend.
