Default General Studies Exam Tomorrow - Help Required

So our teacher said there may be a question about congestion charges in Manchester. Could somebody briefly explain what happened in Manchester regarding the congestion charges? It apparently failed to happen or something. :/ Thanks.

It was a guinea pig city for it, that's all I know

I had general studies exams last year however I never had a lesson and there was never any teachers to ask about anything so it's not surprise I got UUU - nothing got explained to me, at all and they wanted to put me in for re-sits this year and I bluntly explained to them, no.

They was a vote and the public majorly voted against it.

I barely turned up to my general studies lessons in year12 and got ABB, B overall so.

As far as I remember it was going to be implemented but they gave the people of Manchester a vote about it and funnily enough the voted against it so it wasn't implemented. I *think* that is right, have a peak on the internet.

i don't really think you need lessons on general studies, as long as you can formulate an argument to the question from both sides (for / against) and then give your overall opinion at the end you should do well. its not really something you can have lessons on because the exam can be on any topic whatsoever... so as long as you say.. know whats going on by either watching the news/ reading a paper once in a while you've got a broad enough knowledge to answer most questions. i think last year in total i had about 3 lessons for general studies (well only turned up for 3) and i came out with AAB , A overall. Its the same with A2.. i got 3 A2 units this exam period but i will not be doing any revision for them because theres no point.. it can be on anything. On a side note, i've just read your PM skajo.. and the answer is yes i do.

how does your teacher know what's coming up on the exam? does he help write them or something? Hes probably right too because exams are written around 18 months before they are sat.. and the bbc article is dated may 2007

Thanks for that link. Nah, they just said it was likely to come up since previous exams have been about such topics, such as pollution, global warming and that.

If this is correct then I should've passed my general studies exams with flying colours because I'm opinionated and I rationally explained my opinions and thoughts. However, it was to do with Ballet so I REALLY don't have a clue about that. It's a stupid subject that's there because the government want people not to be degenerates (me!).

I'll send you another PM Soka.
