    Default Jaw surgery

    basically i have a problem

i went to the orthadontist on friday and was there for 2 hours. i went to a hospital one as i had a more complicated case.

i knew what i didnt want to hear and then i heard it anyway

after 2 hours the dentist dude said surgery is my option.

basically theres something wrong with my jaw, its not noticeable but its the reason i went to a hospital. it clicks a lot and gives me quite a bit of pain when biting and its difficult to eat certain foods.
they would have to move it all dodgy because my jaws like screwed

    but its optional.

i would have the operation when i was 17 and i would have a brace two years beforehand.
i dont mind the brace at all tho.

when the orthadontist told me i just burst into tears as i really didnt want to hear it.
my cousin had a jaw thing too and she had the opposite operation and was off for 3 months and had a liquid diet and was all swollen and stuff but it all worked well.
the operation has little risk except for possible numbness in ur bottom lip forever.

i jsut dont know what to do

basically i have the choice of just having a brace and sorting out my teeth, which arent that bad at all i just would like them straighter

or having the brace and surgery to sort my jaw out as well and make my teeth perfect.

the thought of surgery just makes me depressed because i just hate the thought of it

but i dont want to regret not having it.
it could be so amazing if i had it done

i have a while to decide but still its just looming over me all the time

this thread isnt asking for advice as i dont expect answers like 'dont do it'
just maybe a bit of support? or like if anyone knows anyone who has had jaw surgery to say what their experience was like idk.

    im just really scared lol

operations can be very daunting (trust me i know) but you just got to consider the advantages of having it. i'm not going to persuade you to have it (even though i believe you should ) because at the end of the day the decision is yours. if you do decide to have it i wish you all the best in your operation and recovery .

It is very rare that anything will go wrong during operation. I know when you wake up it feels like the worse pain in the world but you recover and things will be a lot better.

    Just go for it,
i didn't want an operation on my arm to have the metal plate i originally had in out,
because they told me i could lose feeling in my fingers cause they cross a nerve,
But in the end the operations worth it, and these complications are very rare.
If it benefits you and stops you being in pain in the future then i think you should have it done,
    But it's your choice.
