Joomla SEO URLS [+4 rep]

My Search Engine Freindly URLs wouldn't work, and it was bugging me for ages. The links on my site are:

http://www.mysite.com/page-name

and they should be

http://www.mysite.com/index.php/page-name

The latter works, but I have to manually type index.php followed by /page-name

On alias I have tried changing page-name to index.php/page-name, but on the website it removes the / and . so I get www.mysite.com/indexphppage-name

How can I make my SEF URLs go to index.php/page-name rather than just page-name?

I believe it's something in the configuration link on the SEO component. I had to had a alias to some of the components so they wouldn't look like that.

If you tell me what component you're using I can problem help you better understand.

its not a component
its the built in joomla seo on 1.5.9

ModRewrite would do it?

 RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^index.php/([^\/]+)/?$ dir/to/file/$1.php [L]

$1 is the content after index.php/

Have you renamed your htaccess.txt to .htaccess in your root folder? Maybe use the joomla sh404sef extension it is alot better.
