Starting Driving lessons Next Month

Anyone else who's had driving lessons got any useful tips? I've been practising in my garden and can start, move forward and reverse round corners etc, all the basic stuff. Any tips on getting first car / insurance, driving lessons, instructors etc?

Well its quite good if you can do that already but lessons will teach you everything you need to know. Also, If you get some L plates its always good to get a few lessons from your parents (as long as they're over 21 and been driving for atleast 3 years!)

All I can say is be patient! It was quite frustrating for me at first, but once you get the hang of it it comes to you naturally.

yeah, I was thinking about that but insurance is too expensive for me atm, I'll probably just stick to empty car parks and off road when not in lessons.

By the way, when do you take theory test? I found an application online, but I'm not sure whether you have to do it before lessons or not, cos it says that in lessons they teach me some theory as well. :S

You can do your theory whenever. Most of it is common sense and if you get one of the practice discs is has the exact questions that come up in the exam. If you're not too confident about it then give it a few lessons before you book it just so you know more about the road and how it works.

and you must be insured on their car

Well i started mines last month, my tip is to book your theory test now , and practice and do it on ur birthday or summit and get it completely out of the way
I also suggest buying your lessons in blocks of 10, it ends up cheaper for you by a bit in the long run.
