Do I use to connect a TV up to a stereo so I can get DVD playback through the speaker of Stereo?

If I understand right.

You want when you play a DVD/film it comes out of your stereo instead of your TV for better quality I presume.

To do this you can get a simple cable like this:

Than you just plug the headphone part into your headphone socket in TV than the phono leads into the back of your stero and boom done any sound that would come out of your TV (aka dvd player) will come out stero instead.
