    Default Advice about my dog

I have a border collie. He's 4 years old and his name is Scamp.

When he was a puppy I managed to teach him sit, paw, lie down, roll over, jump and hug.

Only problem is when ever he gets a new toy he completely chews it apart.

For christmas he had about 6 new toys. 3 got ruined within 15 minutes, 1 got lost and two are somewhere around the house that he hasnt touched.

What I want to know is that is there a way for me to teach him to stop chewing them apart?

Heres a pic of him btw:

It's a natural instinct to be honest. Two of mine do it and to be fair if you don't want them to then don't let them have something they can chew apart.

All dogs chew and wreck their toys BUT if you buy latex type toy, theyll have a harder time trying to ruin it. Trust me, my dog is a small mut thing, lol, and he's been through everything since we were told to buy the latex toys, its more softer and it lasts longer, much longer than the cheap plastic toys.

    Goodluck! x

    Thanks for you comments guys.

We had trouble before when he was a puppy as he chewed the kitchen door all the time. so we put really hot sauce on there thinking he would stop but instead he licked it off and chewed it even more. He dosnt do that no more tho

Before I did get him this toy, it was blue with spikes on and you could open it, put water in so when he bites it all water would spray from tiny holes in it but he lost it

Yeah, I think that it is instinct. They are normally out chasing sheep around the field or what ever so it sounds like he isnt being entertained enough, and by that I mean long walks out chasing toys and things like that. I think it is because he is bored and wants to get his excitment out some how else.

+ Leah, have you seen like everybodys dog lol? You seen mine rofl.

It's instinct. My dogs used to somewhat do this but eventually it should go away or it might not. It's just how the dog is.
