text is horrible. good general idea though. Big image then smaller ones fro smaller stories. Too black though,

It's alright I guess, but it seems like the text is just a bit randomly placed and looks as if no thought was given to the actual placement of it nor alignment of it.

Have a look at lots of magazines with a similar target market to the design of yours - the design has to be attractive, and eye-catching which, at the moment, it isn't - due to excessive amounts of black.

The text should be in a logical place (with a decent font), and should probably at least align to something, so stop it looking like the words were just thrown at the page at random. Space the words out a bit - you have all that room, and you're clumping text together on the one side...
