Default Safety when opening a computer

    Hey!
Recently i brought a couple of older computers from a car boot sale for a fiver each, there not that bad condition, and i brought them so that maybe i could do them up a bit, for my own experience.
I was wondering when i open the case, what kind of safety precautions should i take?

Dont slate me for doing this, its what i want to do lol :L

You could try not to break anything?

Other than that lay things out so you know where they came from and you have everything!

Just touch the case to discharge your static.

Put your tongue on each component while the computer is turned on to check whether it is working.

Don't assume that just because all of the computers have a processor and RAM etc. that look similar that you can swap them willynilly. Processors need to be of same socket and the motherboard/BIOS needs be compatible with that particular line of CPU.

Make sure you are grounded so you do not kill the components with built up static elctricity.

Avoid opening them on carpet, tiles is best.

Open the case and touch the outter rim of the case or the PSU first to disperse all static.
