Thumbs up Not doing well at school? .. Get help here!

    Hey teenagers!

I have read the topic on "what do you want to be when your older" and I got to thinking about it.

If you are really intrested in a job, it actually starts now. If you stick in at school and get good grades you should be fine, although I want to try and help those who haven't got good grades, or school refusers etc.

If you refuse to go to school, bunk off, or just don't do well in school etc there are still educational courses that are more fun available to you!

I'm Scottish and when I was at school they called my school adviser my "pastrol care" teacher, in some places it might be "guidance teacher" or other. Well, if you arrange an appointment with your parents/gaudian along with the "pastrol/guidance" teacher and explain to them that you have been bunking/refusing to go to school although you still want to get some education, ask for a collage course for you. This means your allowed to leave school and go to a collage instead. You can go on courses to be a Technician, Maintenance Worker and various other courses that specialise in the basic aspects of job.

In Scotland we have a thing called "Choices4U" and that is another educational service, different from collage - this might be different in England, Ireland and Wales etc.

    Below I will give you a idea of how it works;

I want to join the Army/RAF/Marines, but I've got nothing from school!
This is a common question, but there are ways around this. If you didn't go to school then try the collage idea, or if you don't like that and you're about to leave school with no qualifications then I can advise you take a basic english and maths course at your local collage. Just until you get qualified for a basic all round education.

I want to join the Police service, but I've got nothing from school!
I've heard this alot, but the collage course can really help your education. Or if you don't like the collage either and wont go to that and you're about to leave school I advise you to go to your local collage and get qualified for Modern English, Modern Maths, Modern French.

I want to be a Mechanic, but I've got nothing from school!
The collage course can really help as out of all the courses I know of they always have a Mechanic/Maintenance courses available. You will need modern maths and english - just basic education. If you apply for your local collage to educate you on English and Maths basic then you will be liable for the training.

    CV's
Employers always look at CV's, and they aren't really intrested in "I go joggin" because thats just you're word for it! If you get involved with the community such as "I ran a local cross country jog" they will see your socially aware of whats going on around you. I'm Scottish as I've stated before and on my CV I have alot of community VOULANTARY work. Employers love people who work to make a difference - not work for their pay cheque!

    Social Help for younger people!
To show your not a trouble maker, to show you have been interested in the job you're applying for its always a good idea to join places like "The Army Cadet Force" or "The Air Cadet Force" and also "The Police Cadet Force and Service". If the job you want doesn't own a cadet service then you should try and work in that place for "work expierence". This will be a great acheivement and they will really like it.

    ALTERNATIVES

Go to school, work and study hard while doing some community work/cadets!

Me and how I acheived my Job! (warning: its a life story!)
I was a normal child at the beggining of nursery, primary school and secondary school. In primary six I started to get bullied. As a result I started to refuse to go school and kept the reason to myself. I stayed off school nearly every day for 4 years. When I got back permanantly in my third year of secondary school I had missed alot, I was in all the lowest educated classes. I got into the Army Cadets when I was 14 and reached Lance Corpal (rank) in a year. I looked into the Army when I was 15 and eventually persueded my father to sign a conract to get me out of my last year in school to join the army. I was dispatched to the middle East on my 18th birthday. Whilst I was in the warzone I acheived my Lance Corpral (rank) and driving licence and then came home due to a loss in the family (my aunt). I had only been away a year, so by this time I was 19. I thought to myself: "I seriously have to sort my life out". I got myself together and joined the local collage and passed my basic Modern maths, English and French course. I got myself a job as a security gaurd for a private company. They payed quite well. I worked nightshift so I was sleeping the best part of the day, but when I wasn't I tryed to do community events. I ran cross country and represented Glasgows South Jogging team. I got the Duke of Edinburgh award for voluntary work. I then started to look into the Police Service when I was 19 and a half. I eventually applied to be a Police Constable. I done a years probation, but when I started I was forced to give up my job as a security gaurd. I had to live off my parents until I was 20 and a half when I was officially classed a Police Officer. I now have my own flat, own car and my 2 dogs :-) Me and my colleague live together, yes shes a female but we're best friends!
The only bummer is that I'm single!

I hope I have helped you today.

Perhaps you should re-do school for that one. I advise you go on through collage and possibly university. That is a very hard job to do so you should get as much education as possible. If you read the post you'l notice that its basic jobs that everyone know about - thats because I never expected a teenager to have made up his/her mind to a job to that extent.

The collage will supply a Chef course. But I do advise you get a basic all round education.
