You doing the spirometry test? I did it when I went to selection. I used to have Asthma and I smoke, but I passed - so I wouldn't worry to much. Your key worry should be improving cardiovascular fitness which will in turn help your success in the spirometry test which contains a fitness aspect. The Army are big on the use of fartlek, basically what you want to be doing is jogging / walking for a period of two minutes followed by a sprint of 30 seconds. Then walk, sprint, walk, sprint etc. You can edit the timing to how what you choose but it works wonders on your cardiovascular fitness.
Practice your 1.5 mile run now and again and gauge your time but you should be focusing on fartlek and runs of at least 3 miles. This is because before you do your 1.5 mile you will do an 800m warm up. Now a lot of people will only prepare for the 1.5 mile, but when you're tired from a gym beasting the night before and a nice early morning, it's important you have enough reserve to take you further than the 1.5 because otherwise you will struggle.

Any more advice Army wise, drop me a PM .

Try holding your breath reguarly. Dont panic before you hold your breath under water.
Consentrate on what you are doing and don't over do it!
Try holding your breath x3 times throughout the day, morning - lunch - before you go to bed. Do it every day. This is preperation in training your capacity.

    Preperation is everything.
