I still cant see why people cant upload images to uploadpicz.com for things like that, would make things alot easier and it goes down very rarely, I can only recall once since its been opened.

Or that, its disappointing to see them two barely being used with months of effort collecting images going into both of them from many content designers.

I think it is actually a rule (or was at the point I was there) to upload all images to uploadpicz, or another image host... So its not a direct link to the site.

It used to be, but from what I can remember when I used to be there a couple of months back that there used to be regular problems with it, so they allowed to use other sites for uploading for a while. As far as I'm aware that rule went back into place when all the problems were sorted, however a few new trialists at the time weren't accustomed to it as far as I'm aware, and managment really didn't seem to bother too much about it. But I think that's a fair point of why news reporters should upload it to things such as uploadpicz.
