Default Network Connection Icon Not On Taskbar?

Here i am again in this sub-forum

this time, as i said i the title, my network connection icon isnt on my task bar, like next to the volume icon, where it always has been until now.

i tried right clicking the taskbar > properties > system icons 'select which icons to always show'. network is there, but it is unticked and greyed out, so i cant click it :S
how do i get it back?
edit: using windows vista if that makes any difference

If you reboot, it will most likely come back up.
If all the icons you have chosen come up after the reboot, create a restore point.

If it happens again, go to the restore point. Thats how I fixed it!
