    Default Web Developers/Designers/Tech members Group ?

    Hey,

    I know i (or someone else, i forget) asked about this a while back and never had anything come of it. But i do think its an idea.

    The pixel artists public group allows people to show to others on the forum, what they do. Makes them part of a small subcommunity on habbox if you will.

    The web developers & tech heads on the forum have no equivalent to this, despite in my opinion being a much more tighter, more helpful community who will often give up a lot of time helping others out. I personally think they should.

    So this is a thread to ask for the possible creation of the group on habbox, and see what others think of the idea.

    The main advantages of it are.
    1) It allows members of the group to show others what they do and where there interests and skills are.
    2) Shows to other members, which people are likely to help them out in case of computer or web design trouble.
    3) Allows members of the web designers group to unite in a way, as part of a small sub grouping on the habbox foums.

    Why i think developer/designer/technical members deserve a group.
    1) unlike (again using them as an example) the graphics people (they are the only other public group so apologies for singling you guys out), they are much more willing to help other people out with problems. As opposed to just going out in order to boast: (you'll notice nearly all graphics threads are about showing off work, while most threads in the tech forum are about helping each other out)
    2) The technology forums are the most active non habbo section on the forum aside from general. Totalling 566296 posts, compared to 437521 in the graphics forum (and technically alot less as the group specifies only pixel artists)
    3) The designers/developers and technical folks are helpful to everyone. Someone with no interest in graphics or habbo is never likely to need the help of a skilled pixel artiest. Pretty much everyone on the forum, by virtue of them both using a forum and a computer of some sort to access it, at some time another will likely want to ask people on the Tech/design forums for help with fixing a bug, buying a new computer or just advice on the latest gadgets.

    So in summary, for the reasons above;
    I would like to ask for the creation of a public user group on the forum, for the users who frequent and use the "Technology + The Web" forum's.

    The name of the group is up for discussion but some possibility include;
    "Developer/Designer and Technical support Group "
    "Pc and Internet technology enthusiasts "
    "Techies Group"
    "Forum geeks"
    "The IT crowd" :p

    Would this be possible? Also could anyone who supports the idea please vote in the poll.

    Mentor.

    I was going to vote I don't see the point since I felt that simply creating it for discussion and a subgroup was rather pointless, then I realized that's exactly what the pixel artists group did anyway.

    I think its very difficult to argue against this one unless whoever feels its unecessary is also calling for the abolishment of the Pixel Artist group. But that's just my view, feel free to have a different opinion.

    I've never really understood the exact reasoning behind the the pixel artists group myself, but having a group does let people feel more involved with a forum just for being part of it. The in the web/tech forum's this is probably more useful than others as a good % of members who frequent them are here specifically for those forums (as opposed to being here for the habbo fansite aspect and just visiting them by the by)

    Getting the group just kinda provides a nice sense of acceptance of the web/tech community on habbox which are in many ways quite distinct from the main habbo community.

    Beyond the being part of something/acceptance aspects of the group membership though i do see where your coming from in terms of seeing it as somewhat unneeded

    I'm not for a public group to be fair, in the poll 6 people atm have said 'yes we deserve it'. To be brutally honest I think there's only about 8 people within the section who honestly know what they're on about. The rest often give useless and misleading advice and they'd obviously sign up to the group to get the cool image next to their name. I'm not sure how you could fairly pick the people who know their stuff but I think a public group would be quite meaningless, at least make it so you have to have 50 posts in the technology section (I suspect though this could trigger a surge of spamming or pointless/incorrect advice)

    Yes, definitely. As long as it's called 'The IT crowd'.
