    Default Best httpd server?

    Preferably compatible for Windows. Apache seems sluggish and old, is there any better alternatives that you can suggest? Thanks.

    I am guessing you have checked the wikipedia article? This one has the 6 most popular ones.

    Well, apache has never done me any bad - especially when setup correctly.

    I don't know much about the windows side of things but here are some I have used and have been recommended in the past:

    -Apache
    -Lighttpd
    -nginx
    -Cherokee

    Cherokee is the lightest of them all, but needs a bit of work to support PHP5. nginx is used by companies that have a lot of traffic as it seems to cope amazingly well.

    However, apache seems your best bet.

    I found these two which seem decent;
    Other suggestions for a WINDOWS environment? Also, I've heard about lighttpd being good but I can't find it for Windows, just some old releases with limited support?
