    After my old ps3 could no longer read dvds or gfames it was about time I got a new one, now i got one thats 80gb and it cant read ps2 games (wont support it)

    Its cuz they only released 60gb's with backwards compat, and its only software at that :|

    Surely it must be hardware, if it was just software it could easily be released for free on PSN. >.<

    I think it was hardware but I read that it is possible with software.

    it is most definatley software, its only american consoles what are hardwared up

    From what I remember, it was emulation software that ran on the PS3 which was unreliable (like most emulators, some don't play some games and some aren't played very well). Don't quote me on that though.

    aye original NTSC (so N. America) 60gb and 20gb have Emotion Engine which is the hardware chips for emulations. Whereas PAL (pretty much EU) original 60gb has emulation software. Friends say the emluation is alright, could be better
