If I upgrade my old computer to its abisimal 1GB RAM limit should I get Vista or get W7? I'd prefer W7 but if vista runs to a better standard, seeing as its min specs are 512MB so it will run smoother than W7 which min is 1GB. So which should I get?

I've got W7 and i personally love it, its runs smooth etc and actually works like vista should have.

Windows 7 runs a lot better on 1GB than Vista (I use it on my UMPC, have no money to upgrade it to 2GB XD)

Vista's never going to run better than W7, or even XP for that matter.
You'd be a fool not to go to W7

Windows 7 works fine on 512MB of RAM for me
