Are banks allowed to charge people under the age of 18?

I believe, aye, depends on the single bank's T&C's. I know my bank hasn't charged me for anything. Halifax.

Altho, in the T&C it says I have to use the deposit machine and not a cashier :| but yeah.

Its ok now, I just joined the "Consumer Forums" and replies are very quick. Haven't been charged yet though, just in-case it happens. Knowing my bank <_<.

It would probs depend on what sort of charge.

I know I've gone OD on my account and aint been charged yet*

*touch wood I wont for a far while.

I think it depends on the bank and what type of account.

I've read that goes to 0 when you turned 18? Not sure how true that is though as it was on the internet somewhere. But anyway after explaining it all. He has said:

They shouldn't charge you cos you have an adapt account and whether the DD went through or otherwise, the bank have mismanaged your account allowing you something which they clearly state is not permitted on the account. Why permit something that isn't allowed?

Furthermore, if it takes the account into minus figures then they are giving credit to someone under 18 which is against the Consumer Credit Act....they are stuffed in all honesty.
