Getting my xbox flashed

Ive never really posted in these forums before, so i hope its in right section!

Well, first of all. Let me explain.
Im getting my xbox flashed, if you dont know what it is then use google as i cant go into much detail,

I just thought i'd post to ask for recommendations and what/not to look out for.

I have to pay 30pound to get it flashed, is there a place that does it for free? and is there something i should do before i get it flashed?

Also, post if yours if flashed and tell me what you did and have done since.

Don't you need a mod chip or something? Also be careful, people get banned from XBL for this.

There are different methods? Apparently some are actually detectable, so you have to watch out.
