    Default Question

    Hello

My PSU is getting ANOYINGLY loud, so I need to change it ASAP. Although, I cannot order one now, and may have to wait.

However, i have a spare PSU with 300W on the label (my current is 400W).
    Will 300W be enough to run the following for about a month;

    2.2ghz E4500 CPU
    nVidia 8500GT
1x DVD (i have 2 but will unplug 1 if necessary)
    2 x HDD (sata)
    and 2-3 fans.

    Many Thanks
    Luke

OH, and could anyone reconmend an inexpensive 400W+ PSU that is almost silent (amazon or ebuyer preferably).

    +rep to all.

I'd say it should be fine because the components don't sound all that power-hungry but wait for someone who knows what they're talking about

You should just about manage it, the 8500GT requires 300w minimum, so you'll be putting some strain on that thing, just get a new one rather quickish.

http://ebuyer.com/search?page=1&stor...49&subcat=2588 <- Any of the 3 400w ones on this page at the bottom, I would recommend Corsair though.

    http://www.google.co.uk/products/cat...m=4#ps-sellers

its 500w, I know, dunno if they have a 400w version but this thing is literally silent, I don't hear a peep out of it honestly! Cheap as well

    Here is the 400w version:

Although they are kinda the same price so I would go for the 500w

It should manage it, but I personally probably wouldn't. Depending on the PSU it might die within a few months due to being on the limit of what it can do.
