    Default Cooking independently

We all get to that age where our parents give us more and more independence, I guess it depends on how you were bought up.

I'm eighteen and cook all my meals for myself. Im just wondering at what age did your parents encourage you to cook for yourself.

My parents dont encourage me to cook myself, I just do it because I want to. My mum still trys to take over and cook for me, but since about 12/13 i've cooked for my self really, but my mum still cooks most meals.

i don't cook and i'm 17. my dad was a chef back in the day before his drastic career change and my step-mum loves cooking, if they wanted to like teach me then i'd happily do it. i just wouldn't know where to start, well not making a meal anyway.

I can do the basics. It's nothing special though, I can make soup and stuff but that's about it really. I've never had to cook for myself though.

It sort of came naturally to me :S I helped out a few times and just randomly made my own meals a few times (obviously not all the time, that would be crazy with a slave woman to do it for me ). I enjoy cooking when away from home though, I make pointless things like mash, which takes far too long but is yummy
