i know around here there are next to no jobs. you can by all means look as ofc it varies from area to area. if you contact a place which needs staff then you'll be in luck. if not, you won't.

Jake that advice isn't so good!! the minimum wage for 16 and 17 year olds in the UK is 3.50 per hour, so don't expect much more than that.

It would more than likely only be a weekend job also, doubt they'd give you a part time job because of school...

Put it this way I work at a cafe for 2/3 days a week (depends) and I get £15 a day (work from 8:30-12:30) - im pretty look though as my nan owns the cafe so I get good wages.

Most places I've seen have paid way above the minimum wage, around £5+ from ages 16 up. Thankfully I was offered to work on a Sunday at Waitrose, so I get paid extra (infact £20 in total free over the course of the day.) Makes it more worth while in doing the job.

The best thing to do would be to get your foot in the door whilst you have the time during the summer holidays, then once you have built the foundations ask for time changes etc. You could easily get a sat/sun job with a week night as well.

Take whatever you can - a job is a job, especially when redundancies are at a high and many are searching.

My friend who is 16 works on a market from 8-5 and only gets £20 per day, that's like £2.50 an hour. (Which is actually against the law, but it isn't a proper job, it's just a market thing.)

You cant get a job in a supermarket or big shops if ur 16 and in full time education [secondary school]

You have to be minimum age of leaving school, so after uve left in yr 11.
But other people or small shops may take u on. But they dont have to pay u minimum wage

im trying to get a job but it's hard atm and over here kids get paid pretty well like one of my friends is on full pay in a chemist so like 11 something an hour. I haven't got a job because i really don't want one right now but it's hard to find work this summer because no one wants to take on un needed laubour

Edit: I just realised that is a massive contrdiction. i did want a job then saw what was avalible like stacking shelves at boots so now i don't
