Default Can flees live in human hair?

I was just playing with my kittens and we have found the odd flee on them in the past which makes me wonder if they could go in my hair? A kitten was climbing up me and sat on my shoulder and I remembered. What makes this worse for me is that I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow and I can't put into words how much I don't want them to see flee's in my hair. It's all good if they can't survive on human hair but if they can them what do I do...? If your wondering why my kittens have flee's it's because we live in the country and have our windows/door open most of the day, can't use flee killers on kittens either. :/

i know people who have had them bite into their back and have had to go to A+E to get them dug out. So i would guess they can go into your hair?

I think they can survive in human hair, at the very least they can get all over your house, in the carpets and stuff. Once your kittens are older (around 6 weeks, 8 weeks to be safe) start using topical treatments to get rid of the fleas. For now you definitely can't because it's unsafe as they're too young and they could turn anemic/die/etc. I'd suggest giving your kittens a warm bath with something like dawn dishwater soap (works great for dislodging fleas) and then pick the fleas out with a fleacomb after you dry them off. They might fuss a bit about the water, though some kittens won't, just try to be quick about it and make sure they don't get chilled and that they're properly dried. That way if you remove most of the fleas you won't have to worry about them getting in your hair/carpets/clothes/etc! Better safe than sorry Oh and if your kittens have their mother around them, its likely she may have a flea infestation if they do, too. You can definitely treat her topically with some sort of medication.
