Default electric drum kit vs standard drum kit

so for a while over the last few years i've been knocking around on the drum kit at school, its always something ive enjoyed doing. and i'm pretty sure i want to buy a set for myself.

thing is, i dont have much room in my house. at a push, i could probably squeeze a 6-piece set in my room, but i think it may be better to buy an electric drum kit as it'll save space and be quieter as well, as i have neighbours to consider.

so can anyone list the pros and cons of both? i have a few already but need help deciding. thankss

it depends on your plans. if you plan on being in a band and playing lots of shows etc, you probably wouldnt want an electric drum set.

not that electric drum sets are phoney or anything like that, its just that real drum sets are better suited for live performance. but if you just want to learn and want it for personal use, an electric drum set is great. i have a friend with one, its perfect, everythings exactly the same as a regular set except compact, plus you can control the volume and sounds and stuff and it's perfect for recording. home recording a real drum set is incredibly frustrating, id love to have an electric drum set just for that haha.

You might not want to be in a band atm, but that could change in no time!
If you're worried about space & money, I'd recommend getting a second hand CB Starter drumkit, you can get them for next to nothing! I bought mine brand new for £250 I think, and my friend got a second hand one for £75.

Get some silencer pads et voila!

Alternatively you could buy a practice pad, which lets you practice rudiments and is alot more effective than thrashing around on the drumkit when it comes to noise.

Hope that helps in some way
