    Default Birth Control

So my gynecologist just gave me a prescription for Yasmin, and I have a few boxes of it sitting on my desk waiting for me to start on sometime in the next few days. I'm kinda nervous about doing it - I've heard all those stories about bad side effects, like mood swings, blood pressure rising, etc. And of course, I'm superficial, and I don't really want to gain any weight (I've heard it can increase your appetite and make you gain 5-10 pounds). Have any of you girls on any brand of bc had any really bad side effects, and what are your thoughts on it? Is it worth taking? I am sexually active so it would be good to know I probably wouldn't get pregnant (I use condoms anyway, but I have had one or two scares in the past). And I do have pretty irregular periods so it would be nice to finally be able to know when I'm getting them..
    Ex-mod.

I've pretty much quit Habbo & Habbox, but I still stop by every once in a while. If you knew me, send me a message saying hi, and I promise I'll get back to you! Miss all you wonderful people who saved me from boredom all those years.

There are side effects sometimes and the chances are if you won't get them but if you do it will likely just be the odd one or two. Yes you usually do gain weight but it is for a short term, if you sit around doing nothing then it will be longer. Keep active and thats not a worry.

At the end of the day all that is worth it unless you'd rather a child?

Hope it works out for you.

Hey a few months ago I was put on Dianette. I've never had a migraine in my life before, and that week I had 3, and was severely sick. So I had to go back and was given Yasmin, and am on my 6th tablet of that today, and NO migraines so far! Dianette is terrible for blood blots, and Yasmin is supposedly better for that, but still I was reading up about Yasmin on blood clots, there was a lot more articles on it and I read some girl had died, wasn't over weight, had no history of blood clots in her family and just after THREE months of taking Yasmin she died. It freaks me out cause my mum had a blood clot, except it didn't just appear, she was bed ridden for 3 weeks when she was pregnant, but anyway, keep active with that sort of thing. Also if you're worried about weight gain, Yasmin can actually help you lose a couple of pounds, it can make you feel nauseous. Also most BC pills help regulate your periods, and make them very light.
    Good luck on Yasmin!
Grandad: I mean smoking mari-jew-arna! You brought a slur upon the family name.

Rodney: Oh leave off Grandad. I'd have to get done for chicken molesting to bring a slur on this family's name.

Yeah the whole blood clot thing freaked me out, though my family doesn't have any history of it so I really shouldn't be worried. The main concern for me would be blood pressure/cholesterol as my family has a history of high blood pressure/cholesterol and I even have had slightly higher than normal levels for the last two years even though I'm underweight and eat (relatively) healthily. Anyway, the weight gain really shouldn't matter to me since I do keep active between dance and running, I'll just have to make sure I keep it up over the winter and dont fatten up on holiday foods! And my gynecologist said I had to come back to see her in 3/4 months over winter break to double check on all my vitals and such so hopefully nothing will be crazy out of whack. I've taken 2 of the pills so far and nothing crazy drastic has happened yet, anyway! I'm sure I just jinxed it by saying that though..

I have some because I have bad periods. I'll find out what it's called later b ut I didn't have any side effects.
i spose i was lucky though as everyone reacts differently too it.
you may aswell try it, you wont know what will happen unless you do try it and you can always stop taking them at any point.

My sister takes Yasmin and she said it's fine, it also stop spots
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

Yeah, I've never had much problem with acne but I do get the occasional bit especially at that time of the month and Im looking forward to that not happening anymore. And woohoo, it's been a few days and no obvious nasty side effects yet! Here's to hoping I didn't just jinx it. Knock on wood and all that..

Keep in mind, things like the pill wont stop STD's, so condoms are a must for people you dont know to well.

If your in a stable relationship you may want to look in to some of the new implant methods (capsel in your arm) They are ALOT more effective, generally safer and will last 3 years (can always have the removed if you requre that) So imo would save alot of hassel compared to pills - plus doesnt mean you have to worry if you throw up or something every.

Wiki has a nice comparsion chart of whats out there orderd by there effectiveness. I belive Implanon is the common implant one, in the UK at least.

Side effects to my knowlage are roughly the same as the standard pill, but as a non girl i cant really comment on that

    what's wrong with condoms?

I bought 80 off ebay for £12.00 which I thought was a bargain

They're more effective and really only break if they are misused, opened wrongly
