    Default why is this happening...

I've never had it in my life before, but all of sudden (today i noticed) that i'm stuttering when i speak and like when i try not to stutter I hesitate? I got really worried about this and I don't know why. So I asked a friend and they said it's either because you lack confidence in things or you're too tired and need to get some proper sleep. Is 8 hours sleep enough?? I don't REALLY lack confidence, I mean I wouldn't exactly jump infront of everyone naked and start dancing, but i'm not exactly so shy i never speak :S. I've also heard before if you stutter or hesitate before you speak it's like some social problem? This is why I got so worried and I just want to know if any of you could see what the problem is? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

It's most likely a confidence problem.

You can try having more confo's? You could be stuttering because when your speaking you don't know what to say next.

I talk quite a lot though that's the thing.

and its definitely not "i dont know what to say next" because, its when i actually know what i'm gna say something next (i.e explaining something or telling a story) that I stutter... its so weird idk maybe its just cus im not getting enough sleep.

8 hours sleep should be enough, maybe you just simply have a speech problem like some people have lisps you have a stutter, don't worry though you can get speech therapy and stuff like that. Talk to your parents about it I would advise, see what htey say.

I've had this happen to me before.. though generally its when Im REALLY tired (like running on 4-5 hours of sleep for 2 or 3 days straight). It could just be your thoughts are jumbled and you plan to say one thing and just say another or stutter or whatever. Just ignore it and keep going. Otherwise if you get selfconscious about it, it could snowball and the more you stutter the more nervous/less confident you'll be, thus stuttering even more. Anyway so just ignore it and eventually you'll stop doing it.

That used to happen to me all the time when I was in Year 5/6 and then it went during Year 7 and it kinda came back during Year 8/9. I don't usually talk to people much and I suck at starting convo's and such. I often find that when I'm really nervous about something I do it more. But yeah, ignoring it is probably the best option, I remember when I was talking to my friend and I expected to stutter, but I didn't, it was very wierd. Mine has gotten better over time, though I think it was because I was stressed, I used to bite my nails lots and lots, but I just kept reminding myself throughout the day not to do it. And it worked, you could try that too.

Sometimes this can happen when there is something bothering you ie something else on your mind... I doubt it's a speech problem as you said it only started so i'd say you've got too much going on.

Yeah as everyone else has said, its probably to do wtih your mind. I find that my brain usually moves faster than my mouth does and by the time I've started saying something I'm thinking of something else to say and I get all stuttery and confused. However, it's gotten a lot worse as my depression/stress has got worse over the last couple of years so yeah that makes sense.

Well I think your a guy, but sometimes my friends get this round their period, which I guess is to do with hormones, so it could just be you're in hormone overdrive right now.
