Default Well Well Well... New FA Rule!

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...560131,00.html
From the 2010/11 campaign, the 20 Premier League clubs have voted to introduce measures which will see all teams required to have eight home-grown players out of a squad of 25.
This is going to make things much more interesting, make sure you read it ALL, it's going to help the lower PL teams out much more, and will benefit the Welsh and English national teams greatly, but more so in the long term.

Never thought a rule like this would actually come into force in the PL, but it's here, and I'm very shocked.

My only slight reservation is that this change will make the PL weaker, and will suffer against the other big leagues, such as Italy and Spain.

Also, do any other major leagues in Europe have this rule? or are we they only one now? because IDK.

Won't necessarily weaken the premier league as you could still have a full first team, and 6 subs non-english, although would be good ensuring that more home-grown talent can come through the ranks at every club.

Well, Chelsea could be screwed, but I doubt it, as they probably have enough home grown players in their youth system/reserve team to put into their 25 man squad.

And probably more coming through, the home grown player doesn't really affect anything, it just gives those players a chance that they currently aren't getting, which is good.

What does home grown mean? is it like, if you've been at a team since you where such a age you count as one?

The player has to be trained at the club in question for at least 3 years before hand I think, so it doesn't necessarily mean only English/Welsh under 21 players, it could be any nationality player if they have been trained their for 3 years.

    If you get me.

Having the same country of birth as the club's location

So no, they will have to be British.

I think your wrong, im almost certain its done by how long they have been at club.

The definition of home grown is trained for three years under the age of 21 by somebody in the English and Welsh professional system.
