Product Design Coursework HELP! +REP.

Basically I have to design a product, an existing one but got to alter it such as the colour or add something to it. Basically I don't know what to do. So can you help me?

I prefer something which is easy to draw and can write loads about. Thank you and I will +REP every suggestion.

nutcrackers / can openers / bottle openers.

i only know that cause the designs of all them and seats were spammed on posters all over the design technology rooms.

Thanks, but that's too basic. I need something which can help people. I want something to help disabled/blind people...

inventing something is more business studies... not product design o_o

a 3 dimensional lazer belt that locates anything with a vibration in its direction of intrusion so a blind person could easily avoid walking into things

by lazer i don't mean pow pow shoot your torse off kid walking at me, i mean something that would detect movement and closeness. Dunno what level product design your doing or if the helping disabled / blind people is your choice but you've or them've set a pretty hard target for you all.
